Soro: In a shocking incident a group of youth attacked a married woman with blade last night and tried to immolate her by pouring kerosene in Banisia village under Soro police limits.
The victim has been identified as Manjulata Jena, a resident of the same village.
As per the report, the attack took place while Manulata was out of home and heading to a nearby field to attend call of nature last evening. A group of masked men chased her and overpowered to attack with a razor blade. Later, the attackers tried to set her afire by pouring kerosene.
However, the miscreants fled from the spot after the victim raised an alarm and her family members rushed to the spot.
The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by her family members for treatment.
Meanwhile, Manjulata’s mother-in-law Basanti Jena has suspected the hand of a relative in the attack over past enmity and lodged a case at Soro Police Station in this connection.
An investigation is underway in the case.
