Balangir: In a tragic incident, some unidentified miscreants chased a lecturer and attacked him on his head and face near Women’s College square here on Saturday.
As per allegation, some miscreants went to Balangir Rajendra College and created nuisance on the premises of the college while the students were writing their exam earlier today. But, they left the college after Commerce lecturer of the institute Rabi Pandia asked them to leave.
Later, when the lecturer was returning home from the college, few miscreants attacked him with an iron rod in the busy Women’s College square. They hit him on his head and face and fled the spot before he could identify them.
Rabi Pandia is undergoing treatment at the district headquarter hospital. Doctors attending him informed that his condition is stable.
Based on a complaint filed by the lecturer, the local police have initiated an investigation into the incident to trace the miscreant. So far it is not clear till now if the youths who had gone to the college and created ruckus are the ones behind the attack.
