Cuttack: Four miscreants assaulted a driver of a Bolero during a failed attempt to loot the vehicle near Tangi in the district last night. The miscreants have hired the vehicle from Bhubaneswar railway station.
Police said that the miscreants asked the driver to drive the vehicle on the Birupa river bank to reach a village near Tangi. “The miscreants later assaulted the driver with sharp-edged weapons and demanded him to hand over the keys of the vehicle. However, the driver tossed the keys to the nearby field and raised an alarm. The miscreants escaped after villagers rushed the spot,” said a police official.
The driver hailing from Bhubaneswar has sustained head injuries and was immediately rushed to the Tangi Community Health Centre. Police have started an investigation to nab the miscreants involved in the crime.
