Bhubaneswar: Anonymous call threatened blast at the city-based Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here on Thursday.
According to reports, director of the airport Suresh Chandra Hota received the call from the unidentified person this morning. The miscreant had called Hota in the office number.
Expressing serious concern about the call, the director of the airport informed the Commissionerate Police, following which the city cops have started an investigation into the matter.
“A repeated telephone call are being received on official landline number from an unknown mobile number – 7873605933 – posing himself as Mr. Parida from Khandagiri using slang language in Odia enquiring/ordering for flight tickets booking, smuggling of ganja and drugs,” said Hota in a press release.
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting of the airport authority in the presence of Special Protection Group, Police Commission Y B Khurania and DCP Anup Sahoo is underway on the premises of the airport.
Security has also been tightened in and around the airport.
