Kalahandi: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was crushed to death while five others sustained critical injuries after a tree uprooted and fell on them in Ghatia village of Golamunda block in Kalahandi district today.
The deceased has been identified as Kamalini Rana (13), daughter of one Sonu Rana of the same locality.
The mishap took place minutes after gusty wind struck the village this afternoon. Kamalini along with several others in the village had gone to a nearby orchard to collect mangoes dropping from the tree due to wind when a tree got uprooted and fell on them.
While Kamalini died after being trapped and crushed under the tree, the rest were rushed to Dharamgarh hospital by some locals later.
Condition of the injured remains to be critical at the hospital, says reports.
