Malkangiri: A minor girl met watery grave and two others went missing after a boat they were boarding sunk in Sileru river near Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Dibyashree (2), a resident of Bangali camp area.
The mishap took place in the evening while at least fiver persons including three of a family from Bangali camp were en-route to Mangampodu. Due to some reason the boat capsized near Andhra-Odisha border in which the victims swept away by strong current and the minor girl drowned.
Later, Sileru Police rushed to the spot and rescue the dead minor’s parents namely, Sati Babu, his wife Parbati.
Two other women who were also boarding the boat remained untraceable despite all efforts of rescuers. They are identified as Palasi Bulamma and B. Krishna Beni.
Rescue operation is underway in the Sileru river.
