Minor girl ends life after youth makes their intimate video viral in Odisha

Nabarangpur: In a tragic incident, a minor tribal girl of Mundigaon village under Jharigam block in the district allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday after a video showing her intimate moments with a youth went viral on social media.

The 16-year-old tribal girl committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree at the nearby forest. “My niece committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree as Jagannath Gouda raped and made the same video viral. We will be at peace only if Jagannath Gouda is hanged to death as our daughter died,” said uncle of the victim.

According to reports, Gouda of the same village was in a relationship with the girl. One day they had physical relationship, which he recorded on his mobile. The clip of their intimate moment got surfaced on social media and went viral.

When the girl came across the viral video, she was under severe mental pressure and left the house on April 30. After knowing her absence in the house, her family members searched for her at all possible locations. However, some of the villagers noticed the minor’s body hanging from a tree in the forest and informed to her kin, who got the body to the village.

Father of the deceased girl lodged an FIR with Jharigam police against Jagannath Gouda in this regard.

Cops have seized the mortal remains of the victim and sent it for postmortem. A manhunt has also been begun to trace the accused.
