Cuttack: A minor girl who had been kidnapped from Gopalpur village here two days ago has ben rescued by Banki Police today.
Police swung into action and arrested one of the kidnappers also by conducting raids at different places in Banki area after the victim girl called up her family and informed about her whereabouts yesterday.
As per the report, the minor girl had been waylaid by a group of youths on November 3 night while en-route to collect water from a well in the village. The kidnappers took her in an auto-rickshaw with a motive to traffic to Surat of Gujarat, she informed. However, she managed to escape from their clutches while they were busy having snacks at a roadside eatery and fled to her uncle’s house.
Police have started interrogating the detained accused to elicit information on his associates.
