Minor boy’s death sparks tension at SCB medical in Cuttack

Cuttack: Tension prevailed at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Sunday following the death of a minor boy under treatment and his family’s allegation of medical negligence for the same.

As per the report, the deceased identified as a resident of CDA area in Cuttack had suffered a critical injury after falling off the staircase at his home Saturday afternoon. He was first rushed to City Hospital and subsequently to Sishu Bhawan by his family in the same afternoon but failed to get required medical treatment.

But the victim was finally admitted to SCB Medical last evening and got his CT Scan and other tests done under the prescription of the doctors of Casualty wing. Later doctors declared him fit to be discharged.

As per the allegation of the family members of the deceased, he started vomiting at home late in the night due to the injury sustained in the accident and died after being rushed to SCB back. They accused the doctor of the Casualty wing of not properly checking the patient before allowing for discharged which cost his life.

As the angry relatives of the deceased locked up the gate of the Casualty wing in protest to the incident demanding action against the guilty doctor, Mangalabag Police rushed to the spot and tried to restore normalcy.

Palpable tension prevailed at the hospital till last reports came in.
