Minor boy rescued after five years of abduction in Rourkela

Rourkela: In a major success to Rourkela Police, it has rescued a minor boy of Gopabandhupalli slum from Sector-1 area after five years of his kidnapping.

Local police conducted a raid on a house located in Sector-1 area this morning following tip-off on the whereabouts of the missing boy and rescued him from the clutches of two accused who were taken into custody immediately.

Identified as Chiranjeev Chakraborty, an engineering student from Kolkata and Prabhat Panda, son of a Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) staff, the accused duo had kidnapped the boy when he was 12-year-old and kept captive since then, informed police.

The boy had been engaged in looking after pet dogs kept by the accused in their house and was being subjected to inhumane torture. They also used to brand him with hot iron, added police.

Further investigation is underway in the case.
