Minor boy dies after being given wrong injection in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Proving consultation with a non-registered medical practitioner to be costly, a minor boy died after being administered with a wrong injection in Ghandeshwar village under Bansada police station in Bhadrak district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Barik (11) of the same village.

Suresh’s father Gangadhar had taken him to Maa Tarini Medicine store located in Ghanteswar area on November 27 after he suffered from fever. After consultation with a fake doctor, the child had been prescribed a few medicines and sent back to home.

However, as the condition of the child didn’t improve despite taking the medicine he was again taken to the same medicine store yesterday where the doctor administered an injection following which his condition deteriorated.

Thought the family members of the victim rushed him to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) later in the night, he died there under treatment.

Family members of the deceased staged a protest in front of the hospital by keeping the body of the minor and demanded action against the guilty.

No arrest has been made by police in the case.
