Minor boy charred to death in fire mishap in Cuttack village

Cuttack: In a tragic incident, a 12-year-old was charred to death after fire broke out in Dharmadaspur village under Mulabasanta panchayat in the district last night.

The deceased minor has been identified as Pranab Mishra, son of Prakash Mishra of Dharmadaspur village.

Sparks erupted in Prakash’s house at around 12 AM in the night and spread very rapidly while all members of his family were asleep. Till the family members came to know about the blaze it has engulfed at least two rooms and a cattle shed leaving Pranab dead with burn injuries in his room.

Villagers immediately launched firefighting efforts and rescued the family from the house along with a number of cattle. Later they called up Kuanpal Fire Brigade office for help.

The fire was contained late in the night after fire tenders reached the spot and swung into action.

Police rushed the body of the minor for postmortem after reaching the spot and are trying to find out the cause of the fire.

Villagers have demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the affected poor family which was rendered homeless in the mishap and also lost a valuable life.
