Mercury breaches 40 deg in 21 places of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Blistering heatwave conditions swept Odisha as the mercury breached the 40 degrees Celsius mark in 21 places of the State today.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sonepur was the hottest place in the State as it boiled at a temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius.

The other place where the maximum temperature of 40 degrees and above was recorded today are Angul (43.1), Baripada (41), Jharsuguda (42.8), Keonjhar (40.2), Sambalpur (42.4), Sundargarh (42.5), Hirakud (41.6), Bhawanipatna (42), Bolangir (44.3), Titilagarh (43.5), Talcher (40.6), Bhadrak (40), Dhenkanal (40), Deogarh (42), Bargarh (40.5), Nuapada (41), Khordha (40), Sonepur (44.4), Boudh (43), Paralakhemundi (41), and Malkangiri (40).

Likewise, the residents of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar witnessed a temperature of 37.0 and 37.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
