Bhubaneswar: After having international applaud for setting benchmarks in disaster management during the last years, now Odisha has been invited to deliver the keynote address of United Nations’ Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Disaster Resilience Week scheduled to be held at Bangkok from August 26 to August 28.
Commission-cum-Secretary to Odisha government and managing director of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) Bishnupada Sethi has been invited to deliver the keynote address of this prestigious international event. Sethi will deliver the keynote address at Bangkok on Monday.
Replying to a media query today, Sethi said that the success that Odisha has achieved is not the work of a day or month but of the continuous endeavour of over 20 years.
“Disaster resilience can be built through ‘empowerment’, ‘inclusion’, ‘shared understanding’ and ‘joint strategic action plan’ among the nations in the Asia Pacific region,” he said.
