Talcher: The Chairman cum Managing Director of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) today suspended a senior manager in connection with the landslide in Bharatpur on Tuesday.
The CMD has placed senior manager of Bharatpur coalmine V.K Singh under suspension for dereliction of duty.
The accident occurred between 11 pm-11:30 pm on Tuesday when a portion of earth broke loose trapping 13 workers and machinery at work.
While three bodies have so far been recovered, the rescue team recovered a severed hand and mutilated body parts of a labourer today.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday has announced ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh each to the next of the kin of the deceased persons in the incident.
