MBBS course to begin in Shri Jagannath Medical College & Hospital, Puri

Puri:  The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course will begin at Shri Jagannath Medical College & Hospital in Puri for 2022-23 academic session. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved enrollment of 100 MBBS seats.

Reportedly with the approval of the NMC, Puri Shri Jagannath Medical College will start MBBS teaching from next academic year. The number of MBBS seats in government medical colleges in the state has increased from 1,050 to 1,150.

The state government is expected to announce the appointment of more than 50 doctors in Puri Medical College after getting the approval of 100 MBBS seats, added reports.

Currently, SCB Medical College & Hospital Cuttack,Veer Surendra Sai Institute Of Medical Sciences And Research, Sambalpur and MKCG Medical College And Hospital , Berhampur have 250 MBBS seats.

It is pertinent to mention that Odisha government is taking all necessary steps to start functioning of the proposed medical college and hospital at Sundargarh from next academic session. The medical college is being set up with the support of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) which will function with 100 MBBS seats while the hospital will have 500 beds.
