Baripada: Tightening the noose around the necks of corrupt officials in Mayurbhanj district, the Vigilance department sleuths arrested Senior Clerk and Nazir of Kuliana tehsil while accepting bribe from a person to change land ‘kissam’ (type).
The accused identified as Naba Kishore Das was caught red-handed while taking sum of Rs 1500 from one Saroj Kumar Pradhan of Chuliposhi area under Udala of the district yesterday at his office.
As per the report, Pradhan had purchased 6 dismil of land in Gangaraj area and applied for the change of its ‘kissam’ from Sarada (2) to Gharabari as per the revenue record. While the application had been submitted around 3 months ago Das was asking for a bribe from Pradhan to get the work done.
After the complainant lodge a case with Vigilance recently the anti-corruption officials led a trap and caught the accused Nazir at his office yesterday.
Later Vigilance officials also conducted raid on the residence of the accused official.
