Matter of pride for Odisha! Gangapur Police Station Awarded Second Best in India

Bhubaneswar: In what can be considered as a matter of great pride for the people of Odisha and the State Police, the Gangapur Police Station in Ganjam district was awarded as the Second Best Police Station in India on Friday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah handed over the prestigious award (a trophy and certificate of appreciation) to Gangapur Police Station IIC, Dhiresh Das during a ceremony at the DGP conference in Lucknow.

Delhi’s Sadar Bazar police station was adjudged the best in the country, Bhattu Kalan in Haryana was ranked the third on the list.

It is to be noted here that the MHA conducts the survey of the police stations across the country annually during which it judges the police stations on the basis of parameters like crime rate, investigation and disposal of cases, infrastructure, and delivery of public service, among other features.

 

Apart from having, flower garden, artificial fountain, attractive murals on the boundary walls, ponds with boating facility, purified drinking water facilities and clean and mind-blowing environment, the Gangapur Police Station has successfully controlled the crime rates, illegal liquor business and gambling. The police station also has given legal help to the need and created massive awareness on sorcery and cleanliness.
