Massive fire breaks out at BMC Keshari Mall in capital city

Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate incident, a massive fire broke out at the BMC Keshari Mall near the Market Building area in Bhubaneswar late on Friday night.

According to the sources, it has been suspected that the fire mishap occurred due to a short circuit in one of the garments shops inside the mall.

The BMC Keshari Mall usually closes around 10 pm every day. Earlier on Friday night, the security guards spotted smoke swirling out of the complex. They immediately reported the local fire services department.

On getting the information, the firefighters, as well as the Capital Police team, arrived at the spot. The blaze was brought under control by five firefighting teams, added sources.

Adding to it, Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena also reached at the mall to take stock of the situation and appreciated the firefighters for their fast action.

It is to be noted that there have been no reports of any loss of life yet. However, around eight shops in the complex have been gutted in the massive fire mishap, and property worth more than Rs 10 lakhs has been burnt to ashes. The exact reason behind the fire mishap has not been ascertained yet.

Sources further added that the BMC authorities have informed that a probe would be initiated to ascertain the exact cause behind the major fire mishap.
