Maoists torch passenger bus in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A group of Maoists set a passenger bus on fire near Mundaguda village under Mathili police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district late last night. However, no casualty was reported.

According to reports, a private bus was on its way to Motu from Kamarapali when a group of 20-25 armed Maoists intercepted the vehicle at Mundaguda late in the night and asked the passengers to get down from the bus.

The Red rebels thrashed the driver, conductor and the helper of the bus for plying the vehicle during the ‘Protest Week’. Later, the set the bus on fire and fled from the spot.

The bus was completely damaged, reports added. However, the Maoists spared the passengers.

Meanwhile, the District Voluntary Force (DVF) and the BSF personnel launched a joint combing operation to track down the Maoists.
