Malkangiri/Chhattisgarh: A zilla parishad member has been brutally killed by Maoists in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh bordering Malkangiri district of Odisha.
The deceased has been identified as Budh Ram Kashyap of Bijapur.
According to reports, Budh Ram was sleeping in his house when the Maoists entered forcefully suspecting him as a police informer. They shot him dead at the spot and mutilated the body using sharp weapons.
On getting information, the local police arrived at the spot and recovered the body. By the time they arrived at his house, the naxals had fled from the spot.
The cops have initiated a probe into the matter.
