Maoists kill tribal man on suspicion of police informer in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Maoists killed a tribal man alleging him to be a police informer at Katapalli village under Mathili police limits in the district later on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Jagdish Somrath.

According to family members of Somrath, around 10 to 15 red rebels came to the village and took Jagdish to Katapalli and killed him by slitting his throat.

The members of the outlawed group which identified itself in a poster which they left on the spot, as Kanger Ghati Area Committee claimed that Jagdish was working as a police informer since 2016.

The Maoists have also warned the locals to stay away from police or else to face dire consequences like Somrath.

On being informed by the locals, Mathili police recovered the body this morning and sent it for postmortem.

While the killing of Somrath has terrorize the locals, security personnel have started combing operation in the area.
