Malkangiri: Unleashing Red fear yet again in the state, Maoists killed at least one person by slitting his throat and set two vehicles to fire after attacking a road construction camp in Kukurkund village under Mathili police limits here last evening.

The deceased who has been killed by the Red rebels has been identified as Gupta Swain, a relative of the Contractor who has set up the camp.

As per the report, a group of 10-15 heavily armed members of South Bastar Division of outlawed CPI (Maoist) group barged into the construction camp last evening and threatened Swain at the gun point. Later, they dragged him out of the camp and killed by slitting his throat with a sharp weapon.

After resorting to sloganeering following the killing, the Maoists set one JCB and one Hyva to fire protesting the road laying work.

Ahead of living the spot, the Maoists put up a poster to a nearby tree giving advocacy in support of their act.

In their poster the Red rebels claimed that the road construction work will not benefit the locals as it is aimed at looting the mineral resources of the area by mines mafias. As the concerned Contractor didn’t pay heed to their repeated warnings to stop work the action was initiated.

Police had not reached the spot till this report was being filed.
