Maoists kill man branding as ‘Police informer’ in Kandhamal

Phulbani: Maoists shot dead a man branding him as a ‘police informer’ near Budurmah village under K Nuagaon police limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district last night.

The victim has been identified as Ranjan Digal, a resident of Marduli village under Baliguda police limits in the district. He was also associated with Congress party.

According to reports, Digal’s bullet ridden body was found near Budurmah UP School this morning.

Several posters were also surfaced near the body that claimed Digal was eliminated as he was working as a police informer.

In January 2019, the members of the Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) had threatened Digal, terming as police informer.

Following the threats, the victim was staying in Budurmah, his in-law’s village.

Though the locals have informed the police about the incident, the police has not reached the spot till the last reports came in.
