Kandhamal: Maoists shot dead the abducted ‘Gaon Sathi’ Basant Bhatt of Durgapanga village who was kindnapped by them on Sunday on suspicion of being a police informer.
Basant’s body was found at the Satanalia area under Baliguda police limits early this morning.
Some locals spotted the dead body of the abducted ‘Gaon Sathi’ with bullet injury on his stomach along with Maoist posters lying beside.
The posters released in the name of BGN (Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagavali) division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) outfit categorically warned people of similar consequences if they turn police informer.
Local residents staged a road blockade near Durgapanga village protesting the incident and demanded suitable compensation to the kin of the victim.
Notably, around 30 armed red rebels of Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagavali committee came to Durgapanga village and kidnapped Bhatt alleging him as a police informer on Sunday night. The Maoists also put some posters in the area in which they demanded the immediate arrest of the alleged four security personnel involved in the Koraput gang rape case.
