Maoists blow up panchayat office in Malkangiri, put up posters

Malkangiri: Unleashing Red fear again in Malkangiri district, Maoists blew up the Timurpalli panchayat office under Mathili police limits late last night in which assets worth lakhs were reduced to ashes.

As per the report, over 200 heavily armed members of Darabha Maoist Division Committee of CPI (Maoist) arrived at the panchayat office and exploded landmine targeting the panchayat building. Later they set furniture and vital documents kept at the office on fire.

While leaving the spot, the Red rebels resorted to sloganeering against the police and warned people against turning up police informers. They also put up a number of villages in the village appealing people to join their movement to lead a life of dignity.

Border Security Force (BSF) and local police rushed to the spot of late and took control of the damaged panchayat building to launch a massive combing operation to catch the Maoists involved in the attack.
