Maoists attack road construction camp, torch JCB in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Maoist fear loomed large in the district again last night after Red rebels attacked a road construction camp and torched a JCB Machine in Patraput area on Andhra-Odisha border.

As per the report, a group of unspecified number of heavily armed members of outlawed CPI (Maoist) group barged into the construction camp which is located along Goiguda-Bhejiguda Road under Bandaghati area late last night.

Resorting to sloganeering against the construction of the new road and claiming that the move is aimed at launching crackdown of Maoists the Reb rebels torched the JCB which was being used in the work. Later, they left the spot with a note of warning to the workers engaged in the work.

However, police have not reached the spot yet to take stock of the situation.

Notably, Maoists have opposed road construction work in Bandaghati area on a number of occasions in past. In March this year, CPI (Maoist) members killed one bus passenger suspecting him to be a police informer and burnt several vehicles at Dornapal of Chattisgarh.
