Maoist PLGA Week Starts, Tight Security In Mao Prone Districts

Malkangiri: With the onset of the Peoples’ Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week observed by the Maoists, security has been tightened in the Maoist-hit districts viz. Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Paralkhemundi and Phulbani. Besides, combating and anti-insurgency operations have also been intensified.

The PLGA week will be observed by the Maoists till December 8. The red rebels kickstarted the PLGA week by putting up posters calling for bandh at various places in Koraput and Malkangiri districts.

Through the posters, the red rebels also urged the people to observe the PLGA week. As a precautionary measure, government bus services in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati districts have been suspended.

Meanwhile, the suspension of bus services has disrupted normal life in the Maoist infested districts. Many people, especially students from remote tribal areas are completely dependent on the bus services and are facing numerous difficulties as Private buses in the area are very few.
