Maoist Militia arrested in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: The Malkangiri police has arrested a Maoist militia and forwarded him to court for his involvement in several crimes in the Maoist- affected district, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Jagmohan Meena said on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Trinath Bhumia of Kotepalli village under Mathili Police Station limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

Briefing the press, Meena said, “One Maoist militia has been arrested under Mathili PS. Today we are forwarding him to court for his involvement in the Timurpali GP building destruction case, Jagdish Samarth murder case, Anand Bhumia murder case and the bus burning case in Mahupadar”.

According to a press note released by the District Police Headquarters here, Bhumia was actively working for the CPI (Maoist) Party in Tulsi Hill range area under Mathili Police Station. He is involved in many crimes executed by CPI (Maoist) to create terror in people. He is trained in planting Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Several criminal cases have been registered against the accused at Mathili Police Station. The major cases include Case No.48 Dtd. 16.05.2018, Case No.77 Dtd. 01.09.2018, Case No.109 Dtd. 24.10.2018, Case No.11 Dtd. 29.01.2019 and Case No.42 Dtd. 12.03.2019.
