Maoist killed during encounter in Chhattisgarh bordering Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: A hardcore Maoist has been killed in an exchange of fire in Indrawati area of Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district bordering Odisha’s Malkangiri, informed Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Pallava. The deceased has been identified as Ramsu. He was the division commander of the Maoist forces of platoon no 16, commander and guard of Mallesh, DVCM.

Ramsu has been the mastermind behind many of the violent attacks.

Reportedly, a gunfight broke out in a forest between the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Maoists of Indrawati area.

Thereafter an exchange of fire took place in which one Maoist was encountered. The body of the deceased Maoist was recovered from the spot by cops. Ramsu had reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head.

The team of police have recovered a pistol, 5 kg of an improvised explosive device (IED) along with other incriminating materials from the encounter site.

Recently this month, as many as three women Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada. The deceased were identified as Raje Muchaki, Geeta Markam, and Jyoti Bhime Nuppo. The gunfight took place in a forest between Adwal and Kunjeras villages under Katekalyan police station limits.

All of them were active members of Katekalyan Area Committee of Maoists and had reward of Rs 5 lakh each on their head.
