Kandhamal: Based on reliable input an anti naxal operation of a joint team of SOG and DVF Kandhamal was launched on April 4 near Kolampara village under Gochhada Police Station in Kandhamal district.
On the morning of April 5 while the team was combing the area Maoists resorted to heavy firing from advantageous position. Police party immediately took cover and asked Maoists to surrender themselves.
However, in order to save themselves the police fired in a controlled manner in self-defence. Taking the benefit of dense jungle and difficult terrain naxals escaped from the spot.
Further search operation is continuing. Police has recovered huge amount of incriminating articles from the camp.
