Maoist camp busted in Malkangiri; huge cache of arms, ammunition seized
Malkangiri: In a success to security personnel against Red-rebels in the state, Malkangiri police busted a Maoists camp located in Mathili block in the district last night and seized huge cache of arms and ammunition from the spot.
As per the report, a team of Malkangiri Police led by Jagmohan Meena took part in the raid after getting a tip-off on the Maoist camp which was located at Tulasi Pahada area late last night. Police was assisted by a team of District Voluntary Force (DVF) i the operation, said reports.
Seeing the cops nearing him the Red rebels opened fire at them in a bid to escape which sparked a fierce gun battle betweeni the two sides.
While over 400 Maoists are believed to have camping at Tulasi Pahada, all managed to slip from the spot during the gun battle.
While no casualty has been reported in the gun battle, taking the incident with a serious note police have intensified combing operation in and around the forests located near the Tulasi Pahada to catch the holed up Maoists.
