Bhubaneswar: Beware of posting abuse, harassment or threat on your Twitter account – even if it is only against a mosquito – or risk having your Twitter handle flagged and frozen as a Japanese user found out recently.
Twitter, which has recently rolled out a number of new measures to curb online abuse and harassment on its platform, suspended Japanese user @nemuismywife after he posted a picture of a dead mosquito with a death threat.
According to BBC, the Twitter user from Japan, who was apparently being repeatedly disturbed by a mosquito while watching TV, and killed it in disgust, was banned from the popular social media site after he posted a picture of the dead insect with a death threat which read “Where do you get off biting me all over while I’m just trying to relax and watch TV? Die! (Actually, you’re already dead).”
A little while later, the user received a message from Twitter saying his account had been blocked and cannot be reactivated. This angered the user, who created another account to expose the wrong done to him.
“My previous account was permanently frozen after I said I killed a mosquito. Is this a violation?” he tweeted from his new account while expressing his anger and anguish.
The tweet has received a huge response on the social media platform with 29K likes and 33K retweets.
