Manish Anurag death case: Constable Prasanna Behera arrested

Bhubaneswar: The constable Prasanna Behera of Commissionerate Police who was reportedly running the South city hotel in Patrapada area has been arrested. The constable has been suspended for violation of Covid 19 norms and for running bar as well as dance bar till late night. Reportedly, bar manager Shovik Jena and bar owner Pradyumna Jena has also been arrested today.

The Covid test of all the arrested accused is being conducted at Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar.

During the investigation of Manish Anurag death case, it was found that the South City hotel in Patrapada was running till late night. Earlier on Friday, constable Behera was detained while IIC of Tamando Police Station in Bhubaneswar was transferred.

Prior to that on October 18, Commissionerate Police took the three accused, Amrit Biswal, Mrutyunjay Mishra and Dinesh Kumar Mohapatra, involved in the murder of the Manish Anurag on a four-day remand for interrogation.

It is to be noted that an argument over the bill payment of Rs 35,000 took place between the deceased and three accused inside Hotel South City and later also outside the building. The accused attacked Manish in a fit of rage which led to his death. Thereafter, they dumped Manish’s body in the pond with an intention to destroy the evidence. A case was filed against Amrit, Mrutyunjay and Dinesh under sections 364(A), 302, 201, 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
