Man who self-immolated in front of Police station in Cuttack dies

Cuttack: The man, who had tried to self-immolate himself in front of the Kishan Nagar police station in Cuttack district yesterday, has succumbed to burn injuries today.

The deceased is Gunanidhi Bisoi from Ishani Brahmapur panchayat of Salepur area in the district. Yesterday, he poured petrol on his body and set himself ablaze. He was rescued and admitted to hospital in a critical condition. Bisoi had received burn injuries over 90 percent of his body.

According to reports, he had lodged a complaint with the Kishan Nagar police over property dispute. However, as there was inaction over his complaint, he allegedly took the extreme step.

The locals of the area have asked the concerned Police Station to take action on the matter or else they will resort to strike.
