Man On His Way To Arrange Money For Son’s Treatment Beaten To Death On Suspicion Of Child Theft In Odisha

Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, a man who had admitted his son to the hospital for treatment was reportedly beaten to death on suspicion of child theft in Odisha.

One Kuna Munda and his wife Saraswati Munda of Sarangabahali in Anandapur area of Keonjhar district had admitted his son to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment on February 14.

On February 17, Kuna took a bus to come to the village to arrange money for his son’s further treatment. However, he could not reach the house following which his mother had filed a police complaint.

Surprisingly, Kuna was rescued from Pathanadahi village under Ghasipura police limits with bruise marks throughout his body. He was immediately admitted to Anandapur Hospital for treatment. Later, he was shifted to SCB Hospital, where his son was undergoing treatment, as his health condition deteriorated further. Unfortunately, Kuna passed away in the hospital.

Sources said that Kuna received bruise marks as he was beaten up by the locals of the village on suspicion of child theft after he reached it accidentally. He went to the village instead of going to his own village as he forgot to get down from the bus due to mental pressure for his son’s treatment.

A pall of gloom descended on the village following the death of Kuna as he was beaten to death at a time when his son was undergoing treatment. Kuna was said to be the only earning member of his family.

Meanwhile, his wife Saraswati is absolutely in a state of worried to look after her three children and five unmarried sisters.

Her villagers, on the other hand, urged the district administration to provide some financial help to the bereaved family.
