Man survives wild bear attack in Keonjhar, admitted to hospital

Keonjhar: Timely action by two friends saved the life of a youth who was badly mauled by a wild bear in Turungi forest near Sunapentha village under Rebana Palashpal Reserve Forest area in the district on Monday.

As per the report, the victim identified as Sanjay Pradhan took a herd of buffalo for grazing in the forest land this morning along with two of his friends when the bear attack took place. While pasturing buffaloes a wild bear pounced on Sanjay and started attacking him.

However, the bear ran away into the forest after the victim’s friend duo identified as Basant Pradhan and Tangra Juang started attacking it with a stick in a bid to save him.

The victim who bled profusely due to the injury inflicted upon him in the attack was immediately rushed to Harichandanpur CHC. His condition is out of danger now.

Villagers have showered praise on the youth duo for their brave act.
