Cuttack: In tragic fallout of a past enmity, a tenant stabbed his house owner in Choudwar Municipality area in Cuttack district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Amala Nayak, a resident of Ward No. 16 of Choudwar Muncipality area.
As per the report, the accused identified as Babaji Moharana arrived at Nayak’s house late last night and knocked the door of his house. After he opened the door, the accused stabbed him indiscriminately with a sharp knife in which he sustained grievous injuries on his neck and stomach.
As a woman and her daughter who lived on rent basis in the victim’s house tried to save him, the accused even didn’t spare them and started stabbing mercilessly before leaving the spot.
The injured trio was shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack by Choudwar Police which reached the spot without delay. Nayak succumbed to the injuries under treatment at the hospital in the wee hours today.
Police have arrested the accused this morning after launching a manhunt.
