Puri: In a shocking incident, a man tried to kill self by cutting throat after attempting to murder his wife over domestic quarrel in Baliapanda area in Puri district last night.
The accused has been identified as Bulu Behera, a daily wager by profession and a resident of the same area.
As per the neighbours of the accused, he was regularly indulging ing in verbal duel with his wife over some reason and the incident could have been a fallout of the same dispute.
Bulu seems to have approached his wife namely Chandrama last night and an argument erupted between the duo as the latter refused for the same. In a fit of rage, he took out a sharp weapon and tried to slit the throat of his wife and later severed his own private part with an intent to commit suicide.
After hearing the screaming of Chandrama, neighbours reached the spot and called up Baliapanda Police to inform after finding the couple in a pool of blood.
The critically injured couple has been admitted to Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment and the matter is under investigation by police.
