Man slips into pumping station pipe in Cuttack, rescue operation on

Cuttack: A man got stuck inside a pipeline of a pumping station in the city and was sucked till 25 feet depth this morning. The mishap took place while the cleaning activity at the pump was under way.

The victim identified as a 45-year-old senior staff, Pranakrushna Muduli of the Chahata Bazaar pumping station of Bidanasi area located in front of Odisha Police Signal (Wireless) Headquarters had been engaged on cleaning a choke in the pipe along with a colleague when the mishap took place.

As per the pumping station authorities, while the victim was inside the pipeline his colleague accidentally pressed the switch of the pump causing him to get sucked inside by the velocity of the water. As the pipeline was only 2.5 feet in width the victim failed to come out on his own and remained their stuck for at least 4 hours.

The ODRAF and fire officials had reached the spot and launched rescue operation till this report was being filed.
