Berhampur: Panic gripped at Rampudi village under Polasara Police station limits of Ganjam district in Odisha today following the murder of a man.
One Kartik Sabar of Rampudi village had some argument with one of his relatives over some petty issue. Fumed over their altercation, Kartik’s relative fired bullets at him from a country-made gun.
As Kartik fell down and died on the spot, the accused run away before anyone could catch hold of him.
Later, Kartik’s family members reported the matter to the Polasara Police following which a team from the police station reached the village and started an investigation into the crime.
While the exact whereabouts of the accused are yet to be known, police have launched a search operation at the nearby forest after getting information about his presence there.
Sources said that Kartik’s body will be handed over to his family members after the completion of the postmortem.
Police are also probing to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder, added the sources.
