Phulbani: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly doused kerosene on his wife and set her on fire over a family feud in Mandasur village under Raikia block in Kandhamal district on Tuesday.
The victim Anjali Nayak, wife of Pramod Nayak, was first rushed to Rakia hospital and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital here. Soon after the primary treatment, she was recommended to shift MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as her condition was deteriorated.
According to reports, the incident took place around 12. 30 PM. Pramod set his wife on fire and ran away. Neighbours, alerted by cries of help, came to her rescue and rushed her to hospital.
Speaking to media persons, elder sister of the victim alleged that Pramod was torturing Anjali demanding more dowries from in law’s even after their 14 years of married life.
The couple is reportedly working as teachers in separate private schools. They have four children, all staying with them.
A case has been registered with Raikia Police station and investigation is on, police said.
