Keonjhar: A man has allegedly set his wife on fire at Birmal village in Barbil in Keonjhar district late on Monday night. Reportedly, he poured petrol on her and set her ablaze following a heated argument and has sustained critical injuries.
The woman was rushed to District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) in Khedapali by an 108 emergency ambulance in a critical condition, and later she was shifter to Burla General Hospital as her health condition deteriorated.
The accused husband, has been identified as Pratap of Biramal village, tied knot with Tapaswini, of Patharla village, in 2013. They have one son and one daughter.
The woman’s brother has lodged a complaint with the Bargarh police station where Tapaswini has alleged that Pratap has tried to kill her by setting her ablaze following a family feud.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier in October, a Khordha man, identified as Indira Priyadarshini Mohanty, had allegedly slit his wife’s throat with a sharp weapon at Patitapaban sahi in Gurujanga area.
