Balasore: In a sad incident, two innocent men were thrashed black and blue by a mob that suspected them of being child-lifters. The incident took place in Podasul village under Nilagiri police limits in Balasore district of Odisha on Wednesday.
According to sources, Santosh Patra and his uncle Ganeswar Patra had been to Podasul village to conduct a survey on gas connection. However, locals suspected them due to their behaviour and initially detained them.
When they failed to produce any documents, the angry locals accused them of being child-lifters and thrashed the two. Later, they were shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment where the condition of Santosh is said to be critical.
The victims have been identified as uncle and nephew in relationship. However, locals suspected the two due to their different confessions and thrashed them black and blue.
A case has been registered in this connection and further investigation is underway, Police said.
