Baripada: A middle-aged man was killed after his bike was hit by an unknown vehicle in Baripada town in Mayurbhanj district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Kala Marandi (50), a resident of Sadheikala village under Sankhabhanga Gram Panchayat.
Kala who had visited a relative’s place yesterday was returning home by riding his motorcycle late in the night when the mishap took place. Driver of an unknown vehicle which was travelling in the same direction hit Kala at Sankhabhanga Chhak before driving away.
Some local residents found Kala’s body lying by the side of his body on the road this morning and staged a road blockade on the highway.
The blockade was removed only after police reached the spot and pacified the mob with assurance to catch the absconding driver of the unknown vehicle.
