Baripada: In a shocking incident, a man hacked his wife and mother-in-law to death over a family feud in Khuntapala village under Morada police limits in Mayurbhanj district today.
The deceased duo has been identified as Mamata Mohanta (40) and her mother Sumati (61).
As per the report, a verbal duel erupted between Mamata and his husband identified as Purnachandra Mohanta (50) last night over her suspected extramarital affair. Later, the accused threatened Mamata along with her mother over the issue.
Body of the victim duo was found lying in a pool of blood at their house this morning and was spotted by some neighbours, who called up police.
Police arrested the accused after reaching the spot and sending the bodies for autopsy.
Purnachandra used to suspect the character of his wife Mamata and always beat her up. She has lodge a police complaint in this connection seeking police protection. We suspect the victim duo has been hacked to death by him early this morning, said police.
An investigation is underway in the case.
