Man killed in wall collapse caused by heavy rain in Balasore

Balasore: In yet another rain related death in the state, a man was killed in a wall collapse incident which took place at his house in Pakharabada village under Balasore Sadar block last night.

The deceased has been identified as Gokuli Behera (60).

Gokuli was sleeping at his house last night when the mishap took place. A wall in the room in which he was resting had weakened due to incessant rain which lashed the village for past couple of days and suddenly caved in. As the debris of the collapsed wall fell on the victim he sustained grievous injury and died on the spot.

Police have reached the spot and lodged a case of unnatural death in connection with the incident to start investigation.

Notably, at least six people have been killed in separate incidents of wall collapse caused by heavy rain in Gajapati district since the landfall of cyclone ‘Titli’ in Odisha on October 11.
