Balasore: At least one person was killed and another sustained critical injuries in lightning strike in Kuligan village under Khantapada police limits in Balasore district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Budhiram Dalei (58) of the same village.
As per the report, Budhiram had been to a market located around 2 kilometres away from his home along with his brother-in-law Laxmidhar Dalei (40) last night for shopping when the mishap took place.
A lightning bolt hit the duo en-route to home killing Budhiram on the spot. Laxmidhar, who sustained critical injuries in the mishap was rushed to Khantapada Community Health Centre (CHC) by his family later.
Khantapada Police Station ASI Gourahari Das has seized the body of the deceased of late and sent it for autopsy at a nearby hospital.
