Nayagarh: In a shocking incident, a drunken youth defaced and vandalized a statue of Mahatma Gandhi located in Dimiria village of Ranpur block in Nayagarh district today.
The incident came to fore early in the morning after some locals found the statue broken and spotted the accused near it.
Later, police reached the spot and took the accused into custody to start an investigation.
While the real cause behind the drastic step of the youth is yet to be ascertained, residents in the village have suspected that he might have done it in an inebriated condition.
