Soro: A youth sustained critical injuries after being thrashed by a miscreant for protesting unnatural sex attempt by him in Ichhapur village under Khantapada Police Station area in Balasore district on Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as Prabhakar Mallick of the same locality.
As per the report, Prabhakar who had been to graze his cattle in a farmland located in the village was returning home when the incident took place. The accused identified as Uday Mallick of the same village waylaid him and tried to sodomize in an inebriated condition.
After the victim raised an alarm for help after foiling the attempt of the accused, the latter attacked him with a stone inflicting critical head injury.
Prabhakar was recovered in an unconscious state from the spot by his family members and rushed to a nearby hospital.
Based on the complaint of the victim police have arrested Uday of late and started an investigation.
